Listed online and at the entrance as being open, but wasn't. Be sure this is open before you travel a long distance.
In regard to location, it is across the street from the Discovery Center, so one of my party members went into the discovery center to ask if we could buy tickets in the Center. they kindly directed us across the street to the boat docking area. The tour conductor collecting our money upon boarding the boat. So they pick up passengers every ours for a tour of the river.
We enjoyed it. Loved hearing all the history
The cruse provides good historical information about the river and how the casinos were established along its banks. Additionally, the director speaks to the amount of money made by the casinos within Louisiana. An additional aspect of the river experience is that you have a brief moment of seeing nature in its wildlife form. you will see several birds, turtles, and maybe even an alligator in what appears to be a natural habitat. The water is dirty (but not polluted), so the tour conductor joked that you could drink it since only natural dirt was in it - not the pollutants that tend to be in rivers around the country from manufacturing companies. I was glad to take the tour since it gave me a glimpse into the history of the river in this area of Louisiana.
