My first time going to Ernest was for my birthday. I can honestly say the best steak I ever had was the rib eye steak at Ernest Orleans this steak was one the biggest I have ever had. The marinated crab claws are fabulous. However, I believe that I make the best Gumbo in the world. I have been making Gumbo for almost 36 years and live in New Orleans most of my life. I am supper sure it should not be super dark and thick.
Chef Earnest, thank you for making room for our large family (25) for our Mom's special 80th celebration. From the moment of discussing reservations, a warm southern welcome and on arrival staff warmly welcomed us and assisted all of our diverse needs. Excellent food, superior service. A memory we will always cherish with our Momma.~Elizabeth and family.

We’ve heard for a while that Ernest’s was the place to eat, so we decided to try it. First, you’ll need to have your car re-aligned after driving through their “parking lot”. Once inside, the atmosphere is dark and dated but the staff is very friendly. Shrimp appetizers, 4 tasteless shrimp - $24! Really? Entrees, I had the filet and shrimp - $55. Steak was good, same tasteless shrimp, baked potato was better than any of it. She ordered Fettuccini Melton - $38. A huge amount of food but nothing to brag about on flavor.
Ernest Orleans an amazing place to eat if you want an exceptional dining experience. The customer service is what I am big on and I can honestly say that at Ernest the staff go above and beyond what customer expects they take the extra steps to make you feel welcome and at home.
I think that when the bread and baked potato are the best part of your meal, you have a problem. I don’t see what the hype is about. Then again, even our waiter told us that business isn’t what it used to be. I certainly won’t be back.
