I prefer the Shreveport Mudbugs games here than at their previous location... The environment just feels right here. A real treat.
Shreveport has some of the nicest people I have ever met. The Mud Bugs are a great NAHL team and offer fun competition. The staff here is outstanding (except that one bartender.....) who will do anything to help anyone. The building, however, is a bit outdated, lacking in handicapped accessibility (distance to seats, stairs with no railings, more bathrooms with stairs than without, an abundance of uneven floors).
Aging arena newly refurbished to create George's Pond, a great minor league hockey rink. Also notable as one of the largest copper-roofed structures in the world, although the beautiful green patina was recently painted over to stop deterioration.
Love coming to the hockey games here. It's cold so make sure to dress very warm as it is very cold inside. So much fun getting to ice skate in the south. Very clean and the bathrooms were also very clean. Great place to bring kids for a birthday party or celebration. Also would be a great place for a date allows you to spend time together talking rather then just watching a movie together.
Recently renovated, George's Pond at the Hirsch is a hockey lover's delight. Well appointed decorations and hanging pennants really play up the fan-focused appeal of this arena. Small corridors and concourses are a flaw of the original design, but the comfortable environment goes a long way. Excellent parking and noticeable security gives you peace of mind to relax and enjoy the game.
